Hello world!

...Do you ever feel like you get deja vu in a moment? You know you've been here before, in this exact scenario, but you can't place your finger on where or why.

Well this time, I can put my finger on it. February 21, 2024: the day I wrote my first blog post on my old website (hopefully the goofy title makes some more sense now). I was just starting the end of my sophomore tenure at SCAD and had a spare couple of hours to kill. And I really mean a couple of hours; that website looked like Puff the Magic Dragon's foray into corporate minimalism.

A lot has changed in a little over a year. I'm a senior now. I'm starting my search for internships, post-grad school, and the path to grown-up jobs. To be honest, I thought I'd be ready by now, but I'm not. It all feels too... official? I'd much prefer the safety of my sophomore year, the calming stasis of my "advertising portfolio for the Green M&M" website. For those spare couple of hours, I didn't have to worry about all of these scary things in the world.

I'm not scared to admit that I'm scared. But it's not going to stop me. I'm going to keep applying myself and developing my confidence as a creative. I'm going to strive to leave each day better than I found it. I'm going to stop to smell the roses, too (a severely underrated use of one's time, I might add). But, above all, I'm just going to keep writing.

That, my friends, is where you come in!

I sincerely hope you'll stick around as I continue to keep you updated on my projects, life, and thoughts (I mean it this time, I've got a weekly reminder in my phone). If you're a writer, if you want to stay up-to-date on what I've got going on, or if you're scared too, this is the place to be. We can all grow together, as writers and people.

Now that all the existential introductions are out of the way, I want to hear from you folks! How are you liking the website? As far as personal projects go, I want to make some new stuff to add. I don't know what, though? Some full-length plays? A novel or two? More sketches or short films? Drama pilots? I'd like to know what you want to see, so please share your thoughts in the comment section below or reach out to me directly! It'd be so greatly appreciated.

I think that will do for now. Stay frosty, folks. Before I go, though, I'll leave you with a word of advice my father regularly tells me. It's been helping me find the strength to stay the course. "Bravery is not the absence of fear, but the acknowledgement that it has no power over you."

With words I just wrote,

Braydan

P.S. - I thought of another old-website joke: what Georgia O'Keefe's work would look like if she was a bland TikTok graphic designer.
